Best alternatives to black for True Summers
A True Summer or Cool & Soft person, has obviously cool undertones in their hair, skin and eyes.
If your skin glows when you wear rich cool hues, wine reds and forrest greens, you might be a True Summer colour type. This colour palette is reminiscent of the ocean and has a fresh, summery feel to it.
The primary aspect of your colouring is your cool undertone, second to this, you have blended looking features that make soft colours look better on you than brighter ones. Your colour palette sits between the Soft Summer and Light Summer palettes.
Features of a True Summer / Cool & Soft person:
Your hair will be dark blonde or light, medium or dark brown. You do not have golden or honey tones through your natural hair and there is no brightness to your hair colour. You might describe your hair colour as ashy.
Soft summer eyes are light grey-hazel, blue, green or grey brown. Your eyes are definitely NOT bright and they have a greyish appearance.
Your features are medium in contrast. Rather than having one feature that stands out more than another, the difference between your hair skin and eye colour is somewhat blended.
Your skin will have obviously cool undertones. Your skin might look blue-ish or slightly pink. There’s no warmth in your features.
Gold vs Silver:
Cool & Soft / True Summer’s suit silver much more than gold, because of their cool, icy complexion. You may find gold, particularly glittery and high-shine gold can make you look a little off-colour.
True Summer Celebrities Example: Emily Blunt is a True Summer colour season.
True Summer Best & Worst Colours
If you suit a cool and soft palette, you’ll find slightly subdued colours with a fully-cool undertone to be your best options. The colours that will drain your complexion most will be very bright and warm. Think of primary colours and orange tones to be your worst.
You will find silk white, greys and ash browns to be excellent neutrals. Greys that look a little purple and charcoal, as well as navy can be better alternatives to wearing black.
