My Top 10 Menswear Stores In Sydney City
I tend to shop a lot. As a Fashion Stylist, I’m constantly spending my time searching through racks of clothing for that perfect piece for my client.
I know my clients and who they want to be and I know that just any old pair of pants won’t do. They have to be the pair of pants, or they won’t be suitable. Over my time shopping for men in Sydney City, I’ve come across many stores but there’s just some that take the cake.
Look through the list below and next time you’re shopping in Sydney, pop in and see what they can offer you, you never know, you might just stumble across a hidden gem!
1. INCU – THE GALLERIES
Whenever I’m on the hunt for contemporary or street menswear brands that aren’t saturating the market but offering something unique and stylish, Incu is one of my first stops. It’s located in The Galleries and stocks brands like A.P.C. , Baxter of California, Maple & Mr. Blacks. Here you can pick up casual wear, shoes and accessories and find a selection of small run designs to give your wardrobe a unique look.
2. NUDIE DENIM – THE GALLERIES
Finding good jeans that not only fit well but last a long time can be so difficult these days when everything is made to be disposable. The team in this store know their jeans, they know all about the fit, how they’re made, what fabric will be best for you and best of all – they’re ethical and love to recycle.
You can bring your old pair of Nudies in when you’re buying a new pair and they’ll give you 20% off your next pair. Don’t just shop the jeans here too, they offer a great range of wardrobe staples like chinos, tees and denim jackets that stand the test of time in a man’s wardrobe.
3. 124 SHOES – THE GALLERIES
This is another little hidden-gem inside Sydney’s The Galleries. It’s a footwear shop for really well-made men’s and women’s shoes, most of which only have a few made in each style.
If you’re looking for shoes with character and a timeless appeal and comfort is a huge factor in your buying strategy, this store is fantastic. The quality is superior and slipping your foot into a handmade shoe is almost as comfortable as wearing slippers!
4. SCOTCH & SODA – CASTLEREAGH STREET & MYER
The Scotch & Soda store can be found on Sydney’s Castlereagh Street, just next to the ANZ building and down the street from David Jones. To me, it’s a mix between the preppiness of Ralph Lauren and the relaxed aesthetic of Industrie. It has a rugged look to it that makes you want to go camping and sail the sea all at the same time.
I always find great sports jackets and blazers here as well as fantastic quality casual button-up shirts. This brand runs a little small so when you’re shopping here, take an extra size up into the fitting room.
5. DECLIC – THE STRAND ARCADE
Whenever I’m on the hunt for unique men’s suiting accessories like ties, cufflinks, pocket squares I head into the Strand Arcade’s Declic store. There’s a rainbow of colours and ties in just about every shade you can imagine as well as cufflinks in shapes from cars and aeroplanes to dice and pop-culture figures. This is an excellent store to pick up those more rugged accessories too like fabric suspenders and men’s leather woven bracelets.
6. JAC + JACK – THE STRAND ARCADE & DAVID JONES
Jac + Jack is a brand known for its simplicity. When my male clients need relaxed and comfortable basics, I make sure a visit to this store is on our to-do list.
While the brand is only relatively new, having opened in 2004, it’s growing rapidly due to the comfort, practicality and style they produce. Jac + Jack is a great place to shop for trans-seasonal wardrobe additions as they have a great range of cashmere and knitwear as well as basic button-ups, pants and tee’s.

7. MJ BALE – MARTIN PLACE & WESTFIELD SYDNEY + MORE
It’s hard not to impress when wearing an M.J. Bale suit. Being the co-founder of Herringbone, this label creates exciting but classic suits in a range of high-quality fabrics.
The Brand offers multiple ranges; Classic, Blue Label, Collection and Custom and the store can be found in multiple places across Sydney City; Westfield Shopping Centre, the Queen Victoria Building, Chifley Tower and Martin Place. This store is a place you must visit when shopping for quality suiting.
8. CALIBRE – WESTFIELD SYDNEY
I discovered this brand when I was dressing two male models for a fashion show for David Jones. Their clothing is high quality and they stick to classic styles in new and exciting prints and fabrics.
The Calibre customer has a slight edge to his style, mixed with a classically well-dressed city man. I can always find the perfect jacket for my clients here in the winter and is, in fact, one of my first stops when researching coats and jackets for upcoming shopping sessions.
Sydney’s Pitt St Mall has its very own Calibre store, there is also a range in Melbourne, Victoria.
9. MAYDAY – WESTFIELD SYDNEY
MayDay is a small fashion label with a range of modern, clean and dramatic silhouette wardrobe staples for men and women. Their menswear is designed to layer and perfectly suits those looking to add a little edge to their casual wardrobe and has an emphasis on athletic style streetwear.
10. OSCAR HUNT – YORK STREET SYDNEY
A by-appointment-only men’s suiting specialist that make made to measure suiting. The entire process working with Oscar Hunt is a great experience, you’re offered a drink from their gorgeous timber bar and whisked off to a well set up dressing room to have your measurements taken, pick fabrics and talk everything suiting. Within around 12 weeks your suit is ready and looking sharp.
What I love about their brand is that they can cater to petite and long-limbed clients so if jacket or pant length is a constant sore-point when shopping, this is a great option.
