What To Wear When You Feel Bloated
This is a post I’ve been wanting to make for a while and on a slightly warmer winters day I decided to commit! With summer around the corner, I can already hear my clients asking me how to help them disguise their winter-weight and, as always, I have all sorts of style advice to help you there. This post is especially for those feeling bloated in the mid-section, due to their time of month, hormones or just a cosy winter. I hope you get some use out of it!
Outfit Formulas To Try When You’re Feeling Bloated:
DISTRACT FROM THE AREA
Dark Outfit With A Light Coloured Jacket
The contrast made from wearing all dark colours in your top and bottom and layering it with a lighter coloured jacket will slim your midsection, lengthen your body and hide your stomach. It’s a simple way to distract and use some of your favourite statement coats and jackets.
A Statement Jacket / Layer
Another quick way to distract from the midsection is to wear a statement jacket or layer with your outfit. You could do this easily with jeans and a t-shirt, the jacket is there to be the focus, not your top.
Use Shoes & Accessories:
To take the attention off the mid-section, try making the outfit all about the shoes and accessories instead. This means you can keep the clothing simple, but finally use some of your lovely statement shoes and bags to lift your look.
Add structure to a loose garment.
In my video I’ve taken a loose sunray pleat dress that is super comfortable and roomy and styled it two ways. One with a collared shirt that I’ve tied at the high waist to lift the eye up and away from my belly and the second with a knitted jumper that I’ve cropped with a Basic Band. Both of these methods are great for when you don’t want any pressure on your stomach but you don’t want to completely lose your shape.
What To Wear When You’re Feeling Bloated - Clothing Shapes & Styling Tips
Trapeze, shirt dresses, empireline waists and printed dresses are all excellent options when you’re feeling bloated. They won’t bring attention to the mid-section and will allow you the breathing room you need for more comfort! I particularly love the shirt dress option because you can open it and wear it over jeans. You can also try printed skirts and pants instead of dresses if you’re not into dresses.
Wrap dresses in stiff fabrics, ponte fabrics, A-line pants, dresses, shorts, skirts and jumpsuits and one shoulder tops and dresses are all excellent for comfort and drawing the eye away from the mid-section.
