How To Put Together Chic Casual Spring Outfits

This week the weather has been lovely and sunny, a quick departure from winter and I think a sign we’ll be in for a long hot season. So, naturally, I want to find great outfit solutions that don’t make me feel too casual, while keeping me sweat-free. So I’ve come up with a list of essentials and shown you in my youtube video how to style some chic casual spring outfits!

Game Changing Spring Essentials

One of my favourite ways to pull a look together is to start with accessories, because when it’s hot, you have barely any layers to work with so accessories have to do the hard yards or your outfit will likely look a little unfinished.

MATCH YOUR METALS

You don’t need a billion accessories to pull a great look together, I really think you just need to pick a metal, like gold or silver, follow that metal through your wardrobe from your jewellery, to the buckles on your shoes, belt and details on your bag. Use the matching metals to form some cohesion through your look and help it look put-together.

TAN LEATHER ACCESSORIES

My other top tip for pulling a great spring outfit together is to use tan leather accessories to dress up your casual items and dress down your dressy items. It almost feels illegal at how well this works, as you see in my video, you can pull so many looks together by just adding tan accessories that share the same metal.

STRIPED BUTTON DOWN

Outside of having great accessories, there are a few clothing items I think need a special mention because they can be so versatile for the warmer seasons. Those are striped button downs, I have a blue and white striped one that I can wear across work and play in a lovely soft cotton.

ELEVATED BASICS

The other spring essentials I swear by that I think can really make some chic casual spring outfits are elevated basics. What I mean by that is interesting cuts of garments in basic fabrics. Think, rather than just updating all your tee’s this season fro new tee’s, why not try some different shapes, a halter neck perhaps, off the shoulder number? A wrap or gathered style, all still in super comfortable wash and wear fabrics. If you want to see some of the basics I’ve mentioned, here is a little edit I put together.

DRESSY TROUSERS + ELEVATED BASICS + TAN ACCESSORIES

My last tip is to pick a pair of nice trousers from your wardrobe and dress them down with casual items like your elevated basics, tan accessories and matching metals. See how versatile your existing wardrobe can be when you use the right accessories?
